For the love of animals
I love animals, and I love sewing. It only seemed natural that I combine the two! I've been an unofficial seamstress for years making things for people from dresses to handbags to table runners and drapes. I loved making collars for my own dog and cat, and after a friend put the idea into my head I decided that I would venture into making them for every dog and cat!
What gave me the final push to open a shop was the financial state of my local animal shelter, the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. It runs mainly on public donation and has a very hard time keeping afloat, yet it saves so many animals every month. With all the support it needs and the animals deserve, I arranged for donations to be made to them from every sale.
As time has passed and the shelter has become more self-sufficient, I have started donating to other rescue centers and volunteer rescue organizations, as well as sponsoring rescued cats via the Cat Rescue Network, a volunteer-based non-profit organization. This helps with so many things for the animals. Food supply, medication, vet visits, emergency services, rescue costs, and so much more.
I love the people I internet-meet, sharing in their stories and learning about their fur-families, I feel very honoured when someone asks me to create something for their furbaby to wear at their special event, and for the everyday, and I LOVE seeing their photos all decked out and proud in their new attire!
I get a lot of joy out of running and growing RHC Pets. I'm so very happy I opened it, and even more happy to be making things for dogs and cats everywhere while helping out animals in need!!
